One of my favorite things about Christmas is the lights. My family likes to drive around town and see all the light that people have put up in celebration of Christmas. Can you imagine Christmas without lights? Without lights, it would hardly be a birthday celebration.
At Christmas, we celebrate the Light of the World. We celebrate the birthday of the KING. We celebrate the coming of our Savior. We celebrate the coming of God’s One and only Son. We celebrate JESUS!
“Arise, shine; for your light has come, And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you” (Isaiah 60:1).
This word “Arise” is a fascinating word. Isaiah is telling the People of God to “Get up and get excited!” They are to get to their feet and get dressed up and shine. Why? “… for your light has come, And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.” God is sending His Light into the world and His Light is glorious. The glory of the Lord has risen upon the people of God. The glory of the Lord is so bright that the moon is intimidated and the sun is embarrassed to shine.
The moon will be dismayed, the sun ashamed; for the LORD Almighty will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and before its elders–with great glory. Isaiah 24:23
When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, it was glorious. There was a bright star in the sky. Angels appeared to the shepherds, a Heaven Host announced His birth, and Wise men came to worship the new born King. It was like a new Light in a dark place.
It is by the LOVE of God that He sent His Son. The LOVE of God sent His LIGHT into our dark world. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
Jesus came to bring life and light into this dark and dying world. Without the Light of the World, people will die in eternal darkness. Jesus came to our world to save us from our sins and yet the world has rejected His salvation. Church, we all have the responsibility to take the Good News Gospel Message to all nations. Christian, there are people all around us that live in darkness and need to hear about God’s marvelous Light. Taking the Good News Gospel is a great way to show the world that we love our neighbor as ourselves
Christmas is upon us. We have a Christmas gift of Love and Light. What a privilege it is to share this gift with a lost and dying world. It is important and we share the Light of the World with every person we meet. The LIGHT and SALVATION of God has come and it is Glorious.
“Arise, shine; for your light has come, And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
